A journey through time

On entering the Old School Room you are taken on a journey through time, thanks to archaeoartist, Dominic Andrews.

Learn more about the Neolithic Big Rings, thought to have been built around 4000 BC, and the Dyke Hills oppidum, which is the largest Iron Age town in Britain. Examine artefacts dug up by archaeologists and discover what Dorchester was like in Roman, Saxon and medieval times.

Illustrations and photographs provide fascinating insights into the way people lived right up to the present day, where Dorchester has even been the location for the well-known TV series, Midsomer Murders.

The Old School Room also houses a small souvenir shop, where you can buy postcards, books, craftwork and stationery.
