“THERE ARE WONDERFUL THINGS WE COULD DO TOGETHER”: MOERAN AND COETMORE — A MUSICAL PARTNERSHIP
Hitherto, writers have not been kind in their analyses of the Moeran–Coetmore marriage, describing it variously as “doomed” or “a disaster” — even citing Moeran himself in these assessments. However, forensic examination of all the evidence suggests a different reality. This talk will present the Moeran–Coetmore relationship and its principal outcome, the Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra, in a context that challenges earlier misconceptions.

BOYD NEEL AND THE FOUNDATION AND IMPACT OF THE FIRST MODERN STRING CHAMBER ORCHESTRA: PART I
Dr Louis Boyd Neel is a little-known name these days in classical music circles. Using unique material from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation archives, his interesting life story will be outlined from pre-2nd World War Britain to his appointment as Director of the Royal Conservatoire in Toronto, Canada.
