Hft’s ‘Coming of Christmas’ returns to mediaeval Dorchester Abbey on Thursday 14 December, for a magical night of carols and seasonal songs, performed by choristers from all over the country!
It will herald the 27th ‘Coming of Christmas’ event at the Abbey – a stunning, historic, Norman-era building which started life in the 12th Century. Many of its medieval features, including its Great Window, are still beautifully preserved, giving a wonderful backdrop to our wintry festivities.
And this year, people will also have the option to join virtually and watch the event live online from the comfort of their homes, should they wish to!
What’s in store for The Coming of Christmas 2023?
Doors will open at 6pm on Thursday 14 December, for a 7pm start at Dorchester Abbey (High St, Dorchester on Thames, OX10 7HH). As you walk through the abbey, you’ll be bathed in the cosy glow of candles and twinkling lights, for a special evening of festive music and readings, featuring:
• A magical programme of much-loved carols and seasonal songs, performed by the fantastic Donaghue Consort – an octet of up-and-coming professional choral singers and soloists from all over the country, with the help of some young performers from the local community.
• A reflection on the past year, and a welcoming in of the Christmas season, all while raising funds to support the vital work of Hft.
• Delicious, warming refreshments!
• And the chance to browse our lovely craft stalls in and around the Abbey, so you can get some of your Christmas shopping done and dusted!

From NOW until 16th October, we’re giving people the chance to pick up an ‘Early Bird’ discount for each ticket type!
That means:
• General admission (in-person), will be: £20 £15
• VIP tickets (in-person, for a free drink and one of the best seats in the house!): £30 £25
• Virtual tickets (join the event online by live link): £10 £7.50.
